Hello! My name is River Marie Baratelli and I am an artist currently studying Production Design for Theme Parks and Attractions at Savannah College of Art and Design. Themed entertainment has always been a massive part of my life. Growing up in Florida, themed entertainment served as a third space for peers and myself. Whenever I experienced an attraction or installation, I was always eager to learn about the technology and creative processes behind it. I fell in love with the inherently social aspect of experiential design and how it always manages to spark a conversation.
During my studies at SCAD, I have learned that themed entertainment is an intensely complex and fascinating art-form. it is the only medium in which all five senses are used on a regular basis. It has helped me feel seen, heard, and understood like no other artistic medium has. I am drawn to themed entertainment because I want to help others feel seen, heard, and understood.
I have had the opportunity able to realize this passion recently. On a previous project, I served as a spatial designer and transformed two immersive spaces from key concept art, into fully realized Rhino models. On top of this, I had the amazing opportunity to lead and work with a talented group of inter-disciplinary production designers to create two, visualized immersive space concepts in 10 weeks.
